Gun guides

I will be focusing on 2 of the techniques of guns that are commonly used in the game and on how to use the gun in the game. As different gun has a different way of using it to kill your enemies.

M4A1: Bursting is probably the most used Colt-technique together with spraying. The standard burst is 3 bullets, and it is pretty easy to learn. The important thing here is really timing but the recoil would be really messed up, so you need to figure out how much time it takes for the recoil to go down and burst accordingly. You have to be somewhat rhythmic and calm, and always aim at the head.

Spraying is something often used, especially on LAN when the bullets hit much better than online. You really need to be able to master spraying good if you want to become a good player. It is effective to stop rushes with, when you can predict multiple opponents coming out from the same area, being pretty close to each other. It is also good when youre able to catch your opponent flashed or reloading in a favourable position for you. So, now you know that when a situation like that arises, just push down your +attack button as hard as you can and make sure to use your crosshair to aim. When spraying, and using medium or large crosshair, make sure that you always start aiming at the head and compensate with the upper line of your crosshair. A lot of top players are aiming towards the chest instead of the head, and theres really no logic behind doing so. When youre a top player, you should always try to aim at the head, unless you know that your opponent is low in health points and you just need to do the last damage.

AK47: Bursting with AK does a lot more damage than bursting with colt, but is also a little harder due to different recoils on the weapon. When you watch demos you probably dont even realise how profitable it can be to burst in some situations.

Spraying with AK is really hard, and I probably use it a lot of LAN when getting nervous, even though Im not an expert sprayer. Anyway, I think that it is good to spray when your opponent is flashed, and you are kind of stuck on a position and want to move, but at the same time kill him. If you would go for the burst, you would have to stand still, due to the fact that the
bullets would not go straight forward otherwise. When spraying though, you can pretty much be sure to kill him even if running and that allows you to change position and kill your opponent. Its also good to spray against ecos and through walls, when you are not risking being shot at, because AK makes a lot of damage and you really need to make sure to know where to spray to make damage at your opponents early in the rounds just by predicting their positions.

Frequent Asked Questions

As Counterstrike is based on alot of skills settings of the game may also determine on the outcome of your gameplay. I will know do some FAQs on the game such as the settings of the games, the gear used for the game and other stuffs.

Q: What is the best resolution to use?
A: There simply is none. It is all preference, but the three most commonly used resolutions are
640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768. Just simply use what you're comfortable with, because really only you know.

Q: What is the best sensitivity?
A: This is again preference. Most players use something between 2-4. Many many factors contribute to sensitivity, like your mouse pad, mouse, DPI etc. Use what suits you best.

Q: As a mouse is quite important in how good you are in the game, many questions are being ask as, What is the best Mouse DPI?
A: Quoted from Drax a professional CS player.
"if you use high sensitivity, high dpi is good for accuracy.
if you use low sensitivity, low dpi is good for tracking.
if you try to use high dpi with low sens, you will get negative accel effects.
if you try to use low dpi with high sens, your aim will seem to skip and not be fluid.

Q: What is the best mouse pad?
A: Preference. Some commonly used ones are QcK+ and Steelpads though. Try them and use what best suits you.

Q: What are the best rates?
A: For Lan 25000, 101, 101, 0.01. For pub servers use the highest value you can without getting choke. As for interp, 0.1 is considered cheap by many, because the hitbox is very lenient. You can trail people by a large amount and still register. I guess it comes down to you personally. The CPL GUI, and ESEA Clients etc all lock it to 0.01.

Q: I am getting low FPS, how do I fix this?
A: Your computer may have specs that are subpar for what is needed to run counter strike at 100 fps. But there are also many other issues that can cause you to get low FPS. Try this guide here written by Dagley

Q: What is the best crosshair size, color etc?
A: There is no best crosshair size! Each crosshair has its pros and cons, many find large easier to spray with, and small easier to burst with. Others find large better for bursting and spraying, and even many also think medium is overall the best. CONCLUSION: Pure Preference! As for color, use something that is easy to see. Green, Yellow and Blue work nice.

Q: What is cl_dynamiccrosshair?
A: Dynamic crosshair is a setting which when enabled adjusts your crosshairs size depending on what you do. While running it gets bigger, while crouching it gets small to be precise. Almost all pros prefer it off, because for most people all it does is make it more difficult for quick precise aim. My suggestion is to use cl_dynamiccrosshair 0.

Q: My custom settings keep getting overwritten. How do I get them to stay?
A: You need a file called a userconfig. Open up notepad, and stick your custom settings in there, such as rates, and custom aliases. Then go to file --> save as. Set the "save as file type" to "all files" and then name your file "userconfig.cfg" Save this file to your cstrike directory and next time you boot up Counter Strike it will automatically execute, and your custom settings will still be there.
